Xavi Hernandez remains positive after Barcelona’s unimpressive performance in Alaves victory
Xavi Hernandez’s assessment of Barcelona’s performance against Alaves reflects the team’s struggle to find consistency. While there were moments of improvement, issues with ball losses and transitions need to be addressed. The positive spirit and Lewandowski’s leadership are highlighted, but overall, there is a need for improvement before their next game.
The Barcelona football team returned to a winning form with a 2-1 comeback win over Alaves on Sunday, although the performance was not entirely convincing. After Samu Omorodion scored for the Basque side just 18 seconds into the match, Robert Lewandowski saved the day for the Catalans. Barcelona head coach Xavi Hernandez expressed his satisfaction with some aspects of the team’s performance post-match, but also acknowledged the need for further improvements.
“Positionally, we were not bad, but we struggled with ball losses and transitions, especially with Samu,” Xavi said (via Diario AS). “We are not in our best moment, but we showed spirit to win a game in which we grew. I am confident that we will improve. I remain optimistic. There were moments of improvement today. We should not worry.”
Xavi also praised Lewandowski for ending a six-match goal drought with his double. “He’s always there, because he works hard. He has leadership, and today he made a difference. I’m happy for him.”
The upcoming international break will provide Barcelona with an opportunity to work on their game, which is necessary before their trip to Rayo Vallecano in two weeks’ time.
