Juventus Declares They Will Not Rejoin European Club Association

Juventus have declared that they have no interest in rejoining the European Club Association, despite the open invitation from ECA chairman Nasser Al-Khelaifi. This decision comes after the club signalled their intention to pull out of the European Super League project. Al-Khelaifi has expressed that the ECA would welcome Juventus back, should they stop pursuing the Super League project. However, Juventus has made it clear that they are not currently considering rejoining the ECA. This article delves into the dynamics between Juventus and the ECA, shedding light on the club’s stance and the implications of their decision.
Juventus Rejects Rejoining European Club Association
Juventus has made it clear that they have no interest in rejoining the European Club Association (ECA), despite ECA Chairman Nasser Al-Khelaifi expressing a welcoming attitude toward their return. The ECA, which boasts a membership of over 440 clubs across the continent, is mainly dominated by major teams, including nine out of the 12 initially involved in the European Super League project.
In response to Al-Khelaifi’s statement, Juventus stated, “Juventus FC is not assessing the possibility to rejoin ECA at the moment.” The Italian outfit, along with Real Madrid and Barcelona, had not rejoined the ECA after their exclusion in 2021, although Juventus announced in July that they had initiated the process to withdraw from the Super League project.
Al-Khelaifi, also the president of Paris Saint-Germain, had taken over as ECA chairman after former Juventus chairman Andrea Agnelli resigned. Agnelli, who had initially supported the European Super League, stepped down in 2021, which led to his and the Juventus board’s resignation in November of that year.
