Villarreal CF, also known as Vila-real Club de Futbol, S.A.D., is a professional football club based in Villarreal, in the Castellón province of eastern Spain the club was founded on March 10, 1923, with the aim of promoting all sports, especially football. Since then, the club has grown to become one of the most successful teams in Spanish football. The Club’s History

Villarreal CF was initially founded as Club Deportivo Villarreal, and the stadium was rented for 60 pesetas a month, with ticket prices set at half a peseta for men and a quarter of a peseta for children. Women were granted free admission.

The club’s name changed several times before settling on Villarreal CF in June 1954, with a badge similar to the present one, the club finished seventh and then fourth twice in the First regional league before being promoted to the Tercera Liga (Third Nationwide) as champions in 1956. They were relegated in 1960–61 after finishing 14th.

Villarreal CF plays its home matches at the Estadio de la Cerámica, formerly and informally called El Madrigal, the stadium has been used since 1923 and has a capacity of 23,008 seats, making it the 26th-largest stadium in Spain and the 5th-largest in the Valencian Community, the changing rooms were moved several times, and after the last modifications to the stadium, they are now under the main stand. On January 8, 2017, just before a La Liga match against Barcelona, Villarreal changed the name of its stadium from El Madrigal to Estadio de la Cerámica (English: Ceramics Stadium) recognizing the local industry.

The Villarreal CF logo features a stylized yellow submarine, which is a nod to the club’s nickname, “El Submarino Amarillo” (The Yellow Submarine), the logo also features the club’s name and the year of its founding, 1923.
