Barcelona’s search for a new manager has brought forth a multitude of options, with some more credible than others. The latest report suggests an unexpected and perhaps far-fetched idea within President Joan Laporta’s wheelhouse.
Laporta’s history of bringing back figures
Laporta has a history of bringing back figures from his first spell at the club. Not only was Xavi Hernandez installed as manager, but Deco appointed as Sporting Director, Bojan Krkic as a youth liaison officer, and other former players given various roles within the organization.
Reaching out to Rijkaard
RadioMarca has reported that Laporta has reached out to former manager Frank Rijkaard to see if he would be interested in returning to the job. Rijkaard, who retired from coaching in 2014, has not shown any intention of returning, despite Laporta offering his former Netherlands teammate Marco van Basten as an assistant.
