Chelsea Captain Reece James Undergoes Hamstring Surgery, Hits Out at Negative Comments

Chelsea captain Reece James has undergone hamstring surgery after suffering a setback in his latest injury. The England right back sustained the injury during Chelsea’s 2-0 loss to Everton on Dec. 10 and has now undergone an operation to address the issue.

This is James’ third hamstring problem in the past year, and he has received negative and abusive messages on social media as a result. In a statement on Instagram, James addressed the negativity, saying, “Since this injury I’ve had a good amount of support but significantly more hate and negativity. Believe me, I don’t wanna be injured, I’m happiest when I’m playing football.”

Despite the setback, James has stated that his recovery has begun both physically and mentally. However, neither James nor Chelsea have provided a timeline for his return to the pitch.
