Fenerbahce offers £6.8m transfer deal to Man Utd’s Anthony Martial as an escape route from Old Trafford
Anthony Martial, the 28-year-old forward for Manchester United, has received an offer to join Fenerbahce as his contract with the English club nears its end. Despite a rocky tenure with Manchester United, the French international has shown flashes of brilliance, scoring 90 goals over 317 appearances. Fenerbahce has made an initial offer of £6.8m to sign him this month, rather than waiting until the summer.
Martial’s Performance at Manchester United
Martial’s time at Manchester United has been a mixed bag, including an unsuccessful loan to Sevilla in the 2020/21 season where he scored just once in 12 games. Upon his return to United, he scored nine goals in 29 appearances, but has only managed two goals in 19 matches this season.
Fenerbahce’s Interest and Offer
Fenerbahce is eager to sign Martial and has offered £6.8m to secure his services this month, believing their good relationship with Manchester United will help seal the deal. This comes despite reports that United is still in talks with Martial over a contract extension.
Other Developments at Manchester United
In addition to Martial’s potential departure, manager Ten Hag has confirmed that the club has extended the contracts of Aaron Wan-Bissaka, Victor Lindelof, and Hannibal Mejbri by a further 12 months. Talks with Raphael Varane and Sergio Reguilon are ongoing as well.
