Postecoglou’s concise response on Spurs tactical flexibility after Chelsea’s 4-1 victory stands out

ANGE POSTECOGLOU provided a concise response when questioned about the potential changes to Tottenham’s tactics following their defeat to Chelsea. Despite being reduced to nine men during the London derby, Spurs managed to hold out until the 75th minute when Nicolas Jackson scored to make it 2-1.
However, Jackson went on to score two more goals in added time, securing a hat-trick and a 4-1 victory for Chelsea. It was evident that Tottenham’s high defensive line was exploited on the counterattack, but Postecoglou stated that they would continue with their risky defensive tactics regardless of how many players are sent off.
He expressed, “It is simply a part of our identity and will remain so for as long as I am here. If we are reduced to five men, we will still give it our all.” The game saw Dejan Kulusevski open the scoring for Spurs in the sixth minute, but Cole Palmer equalized from the penalty spot after Cristian Romero was also sent off for a dangerous challenge on Enzo Fernandez in the box.
The hosts were then reduced to nine men just ten minutes into the second half when Destiny Udogie received two yellow cards. Jackson’s second-half hat-trick sealed the game and earned him the player of the match award. Despite the eventful match and various VAR interventions, Postecoglou expressed pride in his players’ efforts, determination, and willingness to create scoring opportunities until the very end.
